Okinawa Sunflower Celebration: March 11–31, 2025

  • Events

Get ready for a burst of color and joy!

From March 11 to March 31, 2025, the Okinawa Peace Memorial Park will be blooming with a stunning “Sunflower Field.” 🌼

This isn’t just any sunflower display — it features sunflowers grown from seeds nurtured in Fukushima Prefecture, making it a heartfelt tribute to resilience and hope.

🌊 A Meaningful Tribute

This year marks 14 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, and it’s the 10th time this event has blossomed.

The project is part of the “Fukushima-Okinawa Bond Project,” aiming to foster connections and preserve the memory of not only the earthquake but also the tragic Battle of Okinawa from 80 years ago. 🌿

🌻 What to Expect

Prepare to be amazed! These sunflowers can grow as tall as 2 meters, providing the perfect backdrop for your photos — consider it a natural filter for your Instagram feed! 📸

But they’re not just pretty — they symbolize peace and positivity, offering a powerful reminder to all who visit.

👉 Best viewing period: Late March to mid-April — perfect for families looking to spend a day outdoors.
Bonus: Children will love the nearby playground, making it a fun day for everyone! 🎡
