Are you ready to wrap yourself in the heartwarming vibes of Okinawan tradition? The Ufusato Nu Muuchii Festival is happening on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Oozato Castle Ruins Park in Nanjo City. It’s all about Muuchii—a sticky rice treat wrapped in fragrant shell ginger leaves—mixed with community fun, cultural performances, and, of course, the irresistible aroma of freshly steamed goodies. 🍃🍡

Whether you’re a long-time Muuchii fan or have no clue what Muuchii is (yet), this event will have you saying, “もっとムーチー!” (More Muuchii, please!)

What’s the Big Deal About Muuchii? 🎋

Legend has it that Nanjo City’s Oozato area is the birthplace of Oni Muuchii. Traditionally, Muuchii is enjoyed to pray for health, long life, and protection from evil. Think of it as delicious insurance for a good year ahead!

To keep this tradition alive, the local community is throwing this festival, filled with activities, performances, and, of course, Muuchii in every shape and size.
