The 18th Nakijin Castle Cherry Blossom Festival is kicking off soon at Nakijin Castle, and it’s packed with fun activities, stunning views, and even night-time illuminations. When Is It?

The festival runs from January 25 (Saturday) to February 2 (Sunday), 2025. Mark your calendar, because this is a nine-day affair you don’t want to miss!

Hours:

  • General Admission: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Last entry at 8:30 PM)
  • Night Illumination: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Where Is It?

It’s all happening at Nakijin Castle in Okinawa (5101 Imadomari, Nakijin Village). Fun fact: this is the only World Heritage Site in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island, so you’re basically getting a two-for-one deal with history and flowers!

Admission Fees:

  • Adults: ¥600
  • Middle & High School Students: ¥450
  • Elementary School Students and younger: Free!
    (Pro tip: bring friends—there are group discounts!)

Street Performers 🎭

  • Weekdays: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Weekends: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

    Watch performers dazzle you with their tricks and skills—perfect for families or anyone who enjoys a good laugh.

Traditional Monkey Show 🐒

Dates: January 25 – February 2
Location: Outer Area
Okay, who doesn’t want to see monkeys doing cool tricks? Just note that shows may change depending on the weather (or if the monkeys aren’t feeling it).

Okinawan Hula Experience 💃

Date: January 26 (Sunday)
Time: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: Event Stage
Learn some moves and dance along with Kaparili. No judgment if you’ve got two left feet—this is all about fun!

Purple Day Celebration 💜

Date: February 2 (Sunday)
Wrap up the festival with Purple Day! Wear purple, enjoy the flowers, and make your last day count.

Parking Tips 🚗

Parking can get a little crazy, especially on weekends, so here’s the scoop:

On-Site Parking: Nakijin Castle Parking (P1–P4, about 300 spaces). Note: P1 is closed on weekends.

Weekend-Only Temporary Parking:

  • Hokuzan Hospital Parking Lot
  • Imadomari Ground
  • Kaneshi Elementary School Athletic Field

Free shuttle buses will run from temporary parking lots to the venue. Or better yet, take public transport and avoid the parking shuffle altogether.
