Get ready for a weekend filled with fun, nature, and a whole lot of shikuwasa! 🌱 Nago City is hosting the 18th Katsuyama Shikuwasa Hanakori Festival at the Katsuyama Community Center, and it’s going to be a blast! Mark your calendars for March 8 (Saturday) and 9 (Sunday), 2025, because you won’t want to miss out on this event!

🌄 Fresh Air and Adventure: Trekking Routes

If you’re feeling adventurous, the festival features a serious trekking experience on the “Fresh Green Climbing Course: Anwa-dake and Kosu-dake.” 🥾 On both days, you can register from 8:30 AM and set off on your hiking escapade by 9:00 AM. Just remember to dress appropriately, bring your water bottle, and some snacks. Participation is only 500 yen, but if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate, plans might change! 🌧️

🎨 Get Crafty!

Feeling creative? You’ve got the chance to make your very own chopsticks from shikuwasa wood! 🍥 This fun activity is available from 10 AM to 4 PM on both days. Plus, if you fancy getting artsy with rocks, you can dive into making Ishigantou and nameplates during the same hours!

🌿 Plant Guide and Local Flora

And if you’re interested in the local greenery, there will be a plant guide from the Katsuyama community on March 9—from 9 AM to 11 AM and again from 2 PM to 4 PM. You’ll get to learn about the fascinating flora of Okinawa! 🌸

🎤 Performance Schedule

Now, let’s talk about the entertainment! The stage schedule is filled with exciting performances, including dance troupes, local school bands, and even a karate demonstration.

On March 8, the fun starts at 12:30 PM with an opening ceremony, followed by performances from marching bands, school dancers, and a thrilling Shikuwasa juice drinking competition at 3:15 PM! 🎶

On March 9, the festivities kick off at 1:10 PM with a raffle featuring some adorable goats! 🐐 There will also be more performances and some hot K-pop cover dances to keep the energy high!
