Okinawa is about to turn 50 shades of blue, and no, not the dramatic kind! The “Ao Matsuri vol.3” (Blue Festival) is coming to Gala Aoi Umi in Yomitan on February 8 and 9, 2025, bringing together everything blue—pottery, glass, accessories, and even mochi?! If you love handmade crafts, live performances, and good food by the ocean, this is where you wanna be.
🏺 What’s Happening at Ao Matsuri?
This festival is all about blue-themed arts and crafts, so expect to find:
- Yachimun pottery with gorgeous blue glazes
- Resin art & accessories that sparkle like the Okinawan sea
- Bingata dyeing & macramé workshops where you can try making something yourself
- Tons of handmade shops selling one-of-a-kind blue items
And because no festival is complete without good food, there will be plenty of food trucks serving up delicious eats. You won’t leave hungry!
🎤 Live Performances & Special Guests
Both days will have stage performances, including traditional Eisa drumming and taiko shows to keep the energy up.
⭐ Special Performance on Feb 8 (Sat)
SARI, a singer known for her amazing impersonations, will be performing a special live show featuring nostalgic youth songs. Get ready for some good vibes and sing along if you know the words!
🎉 Mochi Giveaway on Feb 9 (Sun)
Gala Aoi Umi is celebrating its 20th anniversary, so they’re giving away free mochi! And since this is the “Blue Festival,” rumor has it that the mochi might actually be blue. Will it be delicious? Will it be weird? Only one way to find out—grab one before they’re gone!
