In 2007, Okinawa City declared itself the “City of Eisa.” This year, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Okinawa City, “Eisa Night 2024” has been announced.
Usually, Eisa can only be seen on specific days, such as during the Obon period. However, in Okinawa City, this tradition is celebrated every weekend during this season to promote Eisa as a traditional performing art of Okinawa.
